Micrometeorites

I became inspired by this story in the Times about a man who ignored the naysayers and found micrometeorites in his town. So I bought a super strong magnet and some sieves and put my kids to work! We attached the magnet to the end of a stick and wrapped it with a Ziplock bag. We walked along the driveway holding it an inch or so off the ground. We could hear little pings as the rocks were picked up and struck the magnet! Then we emptied our findings into a second Ziplock bag and ran them through our sieves. Then we looked at smallest and next to smallest results. No luck finding micrometeorites yet though we did find some pretty things!
